Description

This little patch you see here consist of 4200 rings (M4 rings) its the start of a chain that will take 50.000 rings to complete.
So far it has taken me 21 hours, in total this project wil take 250 - 320 hours.

The rings are galvinished so rust will not be a problem, also i have field tested this patch on wood hitting it full on with a 5KG sledgehammer (also with a sword, polearm and a handaxe)
That ended up destroying the wooden stump and bending 2 rings, i also tested a M8 metal chain patch that did not survive the testing as it had less metal per square cm and so 1/3 of the rings where bend open giving a big hole in the patch.

oeh, fellow dutch chainmailler, a rare sight ^^
Going with the really small rings can be a pain in the *ss, I did a patch of 3mm ID brass once, it's more of a trophy now than anything fancy.

Your piece looks good, is this going to become a belt?
one thing though, Galvanised steel might not rust, but it still oxidises like mad. in the long run it's gonna tarnish and become dull (and don't get me started on skin contact issues XD)
I did a bracer in galvy, let's just say I don't want to be wearing that anymore ^^;

anyway, welcome to the site, hope you have a blast here ^^
